#127 Down the Trough (2) << Rocky Mountain National Park, CO >> Taken while climbing Longs Peak via the Keyhole Route. The Trough is one of the most grueling parts of the climb, gaining about 1000 ft picking your way over loose rock. This photo is taken near the top of The Trough looking down. Coming down, tired, requires concentration to keep your footing. I’m always glad when I’ve gotten to the bottom. From this vantage point, you can see Blue Lake (nearest), Jewel and Mills Lake, and in the distance Bear Lake and Lake Haiyaha (I think).
